Oops! I was too tired last night and I completely forgot to write a newsletter. So now here I am on the subway desperately trying to figure out what to write about.

I think the only significant thing is that I’ve been taking a lot more photos lately. I’ve made a return to black and white film after lots of color film and honestly … I‘ve learned.

Interestingly the interesting and nostalgic colors that film scans naturally lend seem to be most of the appeal for film — as it was for me when I just started. But slowly as I’ve honed into what I like to take pictures of, I think it’s of joy. Smiles, hidden glances, a friend with a coconut. Fun moments in our lives that we might forget.

Why not use my phone? Yeah good question. I think to some degree I like the feeling of a camera. Maybe it’s the aesthetic of being a photographer that appeals to me, like why a chef might like a nicer knife.

Esteemed subscriber Ellie Wang’s long concluded hare-y situation continues here in this weekly segment. I also have taken care of an animal off the street and it’s kind of daunting(?) so I commend your dad Ellie for doing this.

My dad found this rabbit outside and took care of it for a week before finding it a new owner. It ate many carrots and kale
