Procastination. What’s new! Today I’m here sitting in Gate F of SFO waiting for this rebooked flight to let me on after one roller coaster (and sunny) week. I’ll miss this sun, the feeling of the dry air on my skin and the sun baking me dry like a San Marzano tomato. But I left my work laptop at home. Which is now New York.
My time at home has allowed a little sandal tan to set in — we have luckily escaped any burns (a whole contingent of esteemed subscribers were not so lucky last Sunday). I’m a little convinced that growing up in the Bay Area has made me a little more resistant to burning, but skin cancer will probably come after me all the same.
Well this might also be a good time to talk about what I like to do on flights!
It runs the gamut. I usually grab the free texting wifi that T-Mobile provides so I can chit-chat with friends, but recently I’ve been watching more movies — especially ones that I wouldn’t really watch any other time. Last plane trip I watched Wicked (oh yeah I went to the Wicked director’s dad’s restaurant it was pretty good) and Flow, both Oscar-winning films. For red eyes like the one I’m about to embark on I’ll attempt to take a nap but, we will have to see how that turns out.

For several plane rides last year I was pretty engrossed in my e-reader. Maybe my mental decline is showing in my preference for movies. Or it’s just a phase.
Ok to end this weird section here are some Crater Lake pics.

museum of the week
Short one since I’d like to just relax before my flight!!!!
I went to Crater Lake this last week with esteemed subscriber Connie Liou and we managed to accidentally get locked out of the car — leaving us with two phones below 20% and a five hour waiting time. So naturally I went to check out the only open exhibit in the Crater Lake Lodge lobby — the Crater Lake Lodge museum.
It is tiny. It is verifiably small. I had a feeling that Crater Lake was one of the smaller parks — though beautiful — not a lot of cash. Apparently the Crater Lake Lodge has been around for almost 100 years, and was close to closing in the 80s when local groups including the University of Oregon stepped in to lobby for its revamp. And so it stays today!
There’s even a theme song!
