Wow! What a few weeks. Apologies to everyone - I missed a powerwashing edition for the first time in over a YEAR last week! It's been a while since I've missed an edition ... and I was sick ... so I figured I deserved a break. I think I wrote "growth" as my word of the year for my vision board. Lately, it's been feeling more like "rest."
It's been a hectic few months! Work has been busy and finally recently let up. For the first time since spring has started to knock at winter's door I've finally been able to go outside and enjoy the nice weather despite being fairly sick (some stomach thing, then a cold). Maybe the cure to a man cold is not just ibuprofen and sleep, but also an almost 80 degree day.
So for the first time in what seems like weeks, I spent the weekend inside, incubating. Some might even dub it as rotting! Even for me, rotting is pretty hard. I get restless -- I want to play games, feel like every minute is used for something. But for two weeks I barely made progress on projects, didn't go to the gym. I just played ... chill video games, watched YouTube, watched TV for the first time in forever. I rewatched the 2006 hit family movie Cars, then watched Planes for some reason (not as good).
And finally as the cherry blossoms come out, I have emerged from my cave ... just to be met by some fine April showers. But hey! At least I saw the blossoms!!!
Esteemed subscriber Ellie Wang was also visiting this weekend! Together with esteemed subscriber Jennifer Wang the three of us wandered around Central Park, LIC and Chinatown, just experiencing things. I took Ellie to Mei Lai Wah and she braved the crowds, emerging victorious with not one but TWO BBQ pork buns from the cash only line.
While watching Hoppers we also baked some focaccia! Here I am with the feeble attempt at the viral scallion focaccia. I think my oven runs a little hot. A nice restorative weekend despite all the walking around!
So what do you guys like to do to relax? Let me know in the anonymous subscriber news!!!
museum of the week
Esteemed subscriber Jennifer Wang and I took esteemed subscriber Ellie Wang to the American Museum of Natural History! Having watched Hopper I was pretty fascinated by the beaver they had in the animals of NYC section. The tail definitely looks a bit smaller than in the movie ... and somehow I felt like the movie captured just how fuzzy they are.
The birds and also the dinosaurs were definitely part of the main attraction as well. Fun fact the last time I hung out with Ellie we also so a T-Rex - actually a plaster cast of the one here at AMNH!
And finally feast your eyes on this wonderful name for a turtle. Truly, a great name of all time.

I just recently did my taxes, which led me to do my finances, which led to a semi-spiral about my spending habits. But now I think I've got it figured out! I've simply just been using YNAB wrong this entire time.
