Happy Monday esteemed subscribers! I have been doing a lot of grilling and thought I would share some of my thoughts and experiences.

I got my start this season on the rooftop of esteemed subscribers Akshay Pawar, Matt Jewison and John Mema grilling some burgers. It was a decently chilly day — we had a few other people over as well and I was secretly hoping I would not have to do any grilling.

And then I somehow took over and ended up grilling all of the burgers!

It's been a blur since then. I finally started using my own rooftop's grill and have been grilling every week with a few friends. Then came the marinated meats: first lemongrass chicken, then a cumin lamb skewer. Last week I made some souvlaki and this week I'm going to try my hand at some carne asada!!!

There is something about the joy of outdoor cooking that is so peaceful. The smell of meat and tofu and vegetables on the grill combined with the feeling of warm summer air brings me a level of satisfaction that eating out at a restaurant simply cannot give me. Oh yeah, I started doing this so I could eat out less too. Which I think has been happening.

Anyway here are some links to some of the recipes I've been using! They're all hosted on my recipe server but generally have the original links to the websites in them as well. Enjoy and let me know how you like them!

museum of the week

In one of the more ... interesting museums I went to, I decided to check out the Church History Museum operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hereafter referred to as LDS because that is a very long name.

It was definitely a pretty good museum for the topic — they had docents sitting around available to answer any questions. They even had a young missionary give me an entire explanation on the golden tablets with a replica. Where the real ones are is currently unknown!

They also had the actual printing test that printed the original Books of Mormon — and they had around three of them in their possession! Apparently the church keeps a record of the locations of the originals but most of the original batch seems to be lost in time.

In general ... think it was an okay museum? If you're in SLC and not really doing anything else, I think it's worth a gander! It's free too!
