things i think about while powerwashing 194
Happy Monday esteemed subscribers!
It has been a bit of an adventurous weekend — most of all because I went outside and interacted with people I didn't know. A lot of people I didn't know. My usual tendencies put me mainly in familiar circles, orbiting around the same few clusters of planets and stars. But this weekend I was invited by a coworker to go watch some football at a bar. And I did!
This is not to say I have never watched a Niners game in a bar — but most of the time when I am watching a Niners game at a bar it's usually a lot quieter. I'm not really feeling the piercing vibrations of a cow bell, or the wood of the bar shaking from the Faithful drumming in excitement at what wizardry (or shenanigans) our linebackers were going to cook up, or the absolute roar of the fans who are high-fiving and giving random strangers hugs and pats on the back. There's no signed Joe Montana jersey giveaway, and there is definitely nobody screaming "BAY AREAAAA" right before the Niners snap the ball.
The atmosphere was electric — quite apt for a divisional rival game (especially the Seahawks). I got there an hour before kickoff and it was already starting to be standing room only, and by the time kickoff rolled around there wasn't really even room to stand. Pitchers of beer floated around my head, being careful not to punch up and hit one in the event of an interception or one of many brutal turnovers.
As an aside, what really made it feel Bay Area was hearing Spanish floating around while a Filipino guy, a Vietnamese guy and a Taiwanese guy all cheer and root for the Niners with the rest of the room.
Can't wait to be back. 5-0 on the season! Go Niners!
