notes on poutine #2

Hello friends!

Since I did not eat Poutine yesterday, I did not review poutine yesterday.

Also I was very tired from around 8 miles of hiking. We saw the beautiful lakes of Moraine and Louise and the pale blue waters of each lake definitely left a lasting impression in my mind. We hiked up to the Little Beehive and stopped at the Lake Agnes tea house for some positively chipper tea.

But no poutine. Today we did some hiking with some great views but what I’d like to share with everyone is THE GREAT POUTINE I HAD TODAY. It’s a little bit of a weird review since I have to separate the best fork-ful of poutine score from the actual dish.

BEAUTIFUL POUTINE

Esteemed subscriber Vic and I walked into some type of bar and noticed they were serving Elk poutine. Interesting! So we of course ordered some and found that the optimal fork of this poutine was probably a 4/5. Extremely crispy and crunchy fries with their own flavoring, cheese curds with tremendous flavor, gravy so thick it repeated a grade and elk meat that was a little chewy like jerky but still retained enough tenderness to make for a great experience. Every good spoonful I got was amazing — but that’s the catch. Trying to get a good fork of gravy, cheese and fries.

So the peak fork is a 4/5, but I have to rate the entire dish a 3.5/5. Why? They were wayyyy to stingy with the gravy and cheese leaving me to hunt for gravy while chewing through an abundance of fries (which were very good).

With this rating, I must also adjust the McDonalds rating to a 0.5/5. That shit was so watery and disgusting compared to the one I had today that it could be considered an affront to Canadians at home and abroad. It’s like hunting a bald eagle. I’m ashamed to be American after eating that McDonalds poutine.

Anyway here are some trip pictures or whatever.
